In a small Manhattan elevator car, the members of Guy,

Timmy Gatling, Teddy Riley, and Aaron Hall stand nervously.

They're on their way to meet with Jean Griffin,

Timmy and Teddy's ex-manager.

Teddy Riley hasn't laid eyes on Jean

since he went to prison for selling heroin three years before.

Teddy did not want to meet with Jean at all.

Their band kids at work had been so close to success they could taste it.

Then Jean had to go and get arrested.

Teddy Raleigh remembers and he's not really sure about bringing Jean back into the mix.

Timmy was like you know Jean is out of jail. I said, oh yeah, and I didn't really like was overly surprised or, you know, happy about it. You know, I just said, okay. But Timmy feels like he has a responsibility to make

guy a success and that involves Gene. I felt like, oh, we need someone that looked apart that could be our manager.

They meet Gene in his palatial hotel suite.

He looks just the same.

Bald head, tinted glasses fly clothes but his attitude is different

he's humbler soft-spoken even grateful that they've come to see him and that's when Jean

said just give me an opportunity to do this and whatever. Timmy lays it out for

Jean what they want his role to be. Just be our mouthpiece. We handled everything just be our

mouthpiece. I just thought somebody that can represent us, flash or whatever.
