Hollow, you'll find in our archives. This is a wonderfully crafted tongue-in-cheeked tale with a particular antipathy toward money lenders then called

you surers. It shows how much our culture has changed from the time in which few

people bought anything on credit to a time now where almost everything is

purchased on credit. In this story you'll get the sense that Washington Irving is

seeing and railing against that cultural change which he sees in the people of Boston as they flock to

Tom Walker in our story for loans of all different types.
