podcast for all of television for the next several weeks we're going to be

taking our Wednesdays and devoting a little time and attention to a David Simon

project that's called the deuce on HBO. I'm your

host Ayrone and I'm Jim. Jim I'm wondering what's deuce if you wanted to give

someone this is a bald new TV we cover all of television. We got to let people we got to break off a little taste for people. What is the deuce? It's David Simon's expose on the porn industry and maybe more specifically the porn industry in New York

City on 42nd Street in Times Square.

Yeah, it spans like a roughly 10 year period from the mid 70s to the mid 80s each year

roughly jumps forward five years in time it feels like yeah yeah and it's it's

also like a kind of cliff notes version of the wire.

A lot of the same kind of like social economic intersection of crime, intersection of society,

the critiques that David Simon and his fellows make in the

wire are made in are made in just two or three seasons here in the deuce so it's if you haven't watched

the wire well you should stop and watch the wire but if you want to kind of like wire

training wheels because this is similarly sprawling massive characters very interconnected plot that

always comes together quite beautifully by the end of the year.

So having said that, what do you think of the first outing of season 3 of the deuce?

I mean, I don't want to repeat myself because I know in the past I've talked about

how mesmerizing the show is and how it just drops you in this time and place and makes you feel that.

And that still sticks with me for season 3.

It looks like, and this should have been obvious and in its inevitability, And this is where it all comes crashing down.

This is where it all comes crashing down for Times Square as it stands in the 70s and 80s.
