I know I've mentioned it on the podcast before briefly, but let's talk about the depressed life coach.

Oh my God, saying it still just makes me laugh because it's like an oxymoron, right? A life coach is going to lift you up and give you new actions to take

and help you understand your options and empower you and set you into your next level with joy and elegance and grace.

But what if that life coach is depressed?

The life coach is depressed? The depressed life coach first of who in my life,

it was my 30th birthday, and I was just in a bad mood.

It was my birthday dinner. I was living in New York at the time and I had a group of friends join me for this lovely gathering in the West Village in this private room.

And for a reason I could not identify, I just felt down that day, right? I just felt,

ugh, I felt heavy, I wasn't enjoying myself. I mean, I did eventually when I was around my friends,

but I coined this term, you know, the depressed life life coach I was actually on the phone with my mother and

Laura and she's like what's up why aren't you happy and I'm like I don't know I'm depressed

I'm a depressed life coach and she was like like, oh my gosh, there's probably a funny, weird business

model with that somehow, where you go to a depressed life coach and what they do is they actually

make you more depressed. You come in there with a problem and you leave even worse off.

Right? It's quite funny and it's a theme that's shown up in my life over the last decade.

I'm like, oh, the depressed life coach is out.

But why do I bring this up and why am I talking about it today?

For two reasons. Number one, even the peppy cheerful people, right, those who do the work on themselves who have their, maybe it's a morning routine, maybe they absorb the self-help, maybe they're consciously choosing their thoughts and their beliefs, right, they're going through life in this conscious way.
