Summary

Democratic voters in Missouri went to the polls on Tuesday and ejected another longtime incumbent from federal office. This has become a trend—one that suggests the Democratic Party is undergoing an ideological makeover, and that process is being driven from below. It looks like the Democratic Tea Party they said could never happen is upon us. Source

Today is Wednesday, August 5th, 2020. I'm John Poghord. It's the editor of

0:30.1

commentary magazine with me is always executive editor Abe Greenwald. Hey Abe.

Hi John. Associate editor Noa Rothman. Hi Noah. Hi John. And senior writer

0:39.8

Christine Rosen-Heikristeem. Hi John. So there were primary elections in

0:46.3

various places yesterday and the most significant event it seems to me is that

himself the son of a 30, I believe 30 year Democratic congressman was

dynamic that overtook the Republican Party in 2010 has now basically become a

2:30.3

significant factor in the Democratic Party in which more ideologically extreme

2:39.3

new politicians, anti-politicians of principle are coming in and sweeping away

2:46.4

old deal making, more traditional politicians. And of course that then puts the

2:54.6

fear of God into everybody who remains that they are, that they are susceptible
