Even if you're not a hockey fan, you're probably familiar with the name Connor McDavid, the guy who basically everyone agrees is the best hockey player on the planet right now.

Well, it turns out there's now another superstar named Connor on the way.

We like to stay cool, but these guys are hard, Coach Rady, but I should say, I'm one of the three one-catas.

And they've got the win in their sales now.

17-year-old Connor Bedard is the most hyped hockey prospect since that other guy named Connor.

And like his name say, he's also an incredibly dynamic goal scorer from Canada.

And Connor Bedard awaits her new trillice, in over the blades line, trying to split the defense, does cuts to front scores.

That is just a special play. My pretty special player is second goal of the hockey game as he makes it five to one.

Today, with Connor Bedard about to go number one in the NHL draft, the athletics Dan Robson walks us through Bedard's incredible rise, explains what exactly makes him so special, and takes us into the deep loss that drives him to this day.

That tragedy's shaped the next years of his career, and you know, when he's drafted into the NHL today, it will sit sort of heavy in the entire Bedard family's heart, and there'll be something that for the rest of his career, we'll always revolve in gear there.

Dan, I wanted to start this episode by having you describe a goal. This is a goal that Connor Bedard scored about five months ago, I think, set the scene for us and walk us through what happened.

Yeah, this goal happens during the World Junior Championship, which is a huge event in Canada, in particular, sort of a holiday tradition.

Team Canada will seek to win that trophy for the 20th time in its history.

It's sort of got this lore already, all the young stars in Canada playing as the young stars in the world, and it becomes sort of this massive television event.

And in the quarter finals against Slovakia, in overtime, Connor Bedard scored a goal that I think is probably the most replayed goal that was scored in hockey this year.
