For today's episode, our topic is the death card.

So of all the cards in the deck, the death card is the

most feared. Often people will say to me, I hope I don't get the death card.

And this fear is most likely attributed to the way the death card is portrayed in popular

media.

You know, we often see it turned over really dramatically in a movie.

You know, the terror gasped and says,

oh, Mr. Bond, you're going to die,

or you know, or you're in danger or some such thing.

And this type of portrayal has really given the death card a pretty bad name, but

it's also diluted the message of this card. Before we start even going into interpretations, let's start by looking at some of the

symbols in this card.

So the first thing you might notice is that skeleton figure on the horse. Now in 78 degrees of wisdom Rachel Pollack says

when we die our flesh decays leaving only the skeleton. This too will eventually pass, but it lasts long enough to at least hint

at eternity. Therefore, the skeleton in the Golden Dawn card implies that eternity triumphs over the transitory.
