The Welcome to the program, everyone. I'm Pristiana Montpour in London. And today, we focus on the

amazing strides women have made over the past half century and the continuing struggle for the

right to full equality.

According to the World Economic Forum,

we're still 123 years away from that.

Women still earn 20% less than men, on average,

and recent UN reports show rollbacks in reproductive and legal rights.

So it's critical to remember the moments when history was made. On October 24,

1975, 90% of the women in Iceland went on strike. They stopped working in their jobs and at home to demonstrate the irreplaceable role of women in society. They refused to be invisible, and their women's day off changed

Iceland forever. It's now the subject of a new documentary called The Day Iceland Stood Still.
