Summary
From childhood, she felt eyes drilling into the back of her skull, an unseen predator stalking her every move. Her father called it hunting. At six years old, he trained her to move in silence, to read the difference between natural sounds in the woods and something imitating them. But what he was really preparing her for wasn’t deer—it was demons.
The family home in Buffalo became the crucible. Her best friend was a ghost girl named Mary. But Mary wasn’t alone. Toys floated around her bed. Bricks hurled themselves across basements. Something darker stalked the house. Then, without explanation, the home was condemned and wiped from maps—as though the earth itself swallowed it.
