I opened the front door of my apartment to find Ivy standing there with her arms crossed.

Her normally brilliant green eyes were cool with anger.

Oh, hey Ivy! I said, surprised. What are you doing here?

I liked Ivy quite a lot actually, but we hadn't been dating for that long.

It was a bit weird for her to just show up at my apartment without so much as a text.

What's your problem? She asked.

Where do I start? I said chocolate.

To loyal, wait to willing to please. My sense of humor is too good. Take your pick.

Her expression didn't change. So much for relieving the tension with humor.

But for the life of me, I couldn't think of anything I'd done that would piss her off like this.

She glared at me for a moment before making some kind of decision.

This is over. She said, if I see you again, I'll be forced to go to the police.

She turned to leave.

Wait, what? The police? What the hell are you talking about, Ivy? I thought we had

something good going here. So did I. She said without turning around.

I moved after her down the hallway in my apartment building.

Wait, Ivy. I don't even know what you're talking about. What did I do?

She stopped and glared over her shoulder.

You're a good liar. She said, it's a bad trick to have.

And then she was gone, taking the stairs down from the third floor instead of waiting for the elevator.

I watched her go, dumbfounded. I stood there in the hallway for several minutes,

thinking about what I could have possibly done to deserve this.
