| 1:34.8 | Oh champion, welcome back and every day Saturday podcast. You know we got to be really careful about these labels that we throw around. I want to talk about this. Some I'm really super passionate about. |
| 1:45.8 | You know when I was growing up I was I mean God I was labeled a stutter and then you know when in high school I was labeled stupid by some of my teachers and then I was labeled a college drop out. |
| 1:58.8 | And then I was labeled you know and on and on and on and my God you go into the work environment how many different labels it starts with your title. |
| 2:05.8 | You know how many people do you see a cocktail party or get together or hanging out at a barbecue so hey so what do you do. |
| 2:11.8 | Oh well I'm a purchasing manager and check no well I mean what do you I mean okay I get that's your job title. |
| 2:16.8 | But I mean what do you do do you like to golf do you like to fish like to swim what is that you do that's what I'm really getting what do you I mean I don't care what you do money through Friday that's not interesting I wouldn't know. |
| 2:25.8 | What would even say about that what's even a purchasing agent mean I don't know that mean you know what I mean so we have a real careful because we give somebody a label say hey how old are you I'm 55 oh boy you should be thinking about retirement oh really why what if I don't plan on retire oh well I mean you're 10 years away that's what I know I have no interest in retiring so hey how old are you I'm 18 years old oh boy going off to college. |
| 2:54.8 | You got to college picked out no I'm not going to college what yeah no I'm I'm going to go into the workforce I'm going to start making somebody I'm going to develop an app I'm going to you know what I mean so we are so quick to assume that because somebody fits a certain you know mainstream demographic we're going to throw a label on him that's the worst thing you can do to somebody. |
| 3:19.8 | I mean how we speak to people it either it either lifts them up or it tears them down and sometimes we tear them down and we don't even realize that we're doing it you know and we're going to tell us oh you you're going to fit into this category in life you fit in that little you know that little square box right there don't try to get too far out of there now I mean come on you know play nice with everybody else you know the best inventions that I've ever existed invented were invented by people who colored outside the lines they didn't. |
| 3:48.8 | They didn't think like everybody else they didn't talk like anybody they certainly weren't label they might have been labeled something negative you know less brown one of the greatest speakers of all time was labeled edgically retarded he was known as dt the dumb twin and his brother Wesley was the smart twin and that's what less got the label of he shares that story from stage all the time I just think it's so powerful imagine having those words spoken into you in the fifth grade oh you're the dumb twin oh yeah. |
| 4:18.8 | And how I mean amazing what less was able to able to do with his life I mean one of the greatest speakers of all time and still had that label what label has been given to you I'm curious throughout your life when you were child or maybe in high school or maybe even in the workforce right now is there a label that people think you should be acting a certain way talking a certain way you know and that's really you know when I exited the rat race that's what really got me one of the things that got me out is I just if you really wanted to get under my skin I mean if you really want |
| 4:48.8 | really really wanted to make me angry you'd call me average you know I don't care if I failed miserably which I did a lot because I took a lot of chances even in the corporate world I was in sales so anytime we came out with something new a new product news there always raise my hand I'll do it I'll try it well there's no real parachute yeah I don't care I'll try it it sounds fun sounds like better and you know doing the same thing every day I don't know well you might not you know your earnings could suffer it's great I figured out yeah I was always trying something new and that's what |
| 5:18.8 | I took into the entrepreneurial journey with me and that's where you're really you know really excel as an entrepreneur if you're willing to try stuff fail |
| 5:28.0 | been I have ever been labeled that failure I have you know failures in event it's not a person it's something that happens and by the way I don't even know I you know how I say all the time you never fail you either win or you learn |
| 5:42.2 | so have you done a lot of learning tried some things that what what would be failure failure is an expectation and attachment to an outcome and that outcome is not realized so if you had an attachment to an outcome that you should run a 40 our dash in five seconds or you should sell a hundred thousand dollars in a month or you should lose 10 pounds and 20 days whatever that looks like you know you should exceed this quota and you don't do it you're attached to that that goal that outcome and if you don't |
