Donald Trump has dangerously escalated his rhetoric about January 6th. At the debate Thursday he ranted that the

rioters are quote so innocent and rage that President Biden should be ashamed

for destroying their lives. Then at a subsequent rally, Trump called for the January 6th

hostages, his word, to be released immediately. This came after the Supreme Court

issued a big ruling that the Justice Department has misused of federal law in prosecuting those who attacked the Capitol.

Trump called this a huge victory, but in an important new piece, former federal prosecutor

and legal commentator Andrew Weisman explains that in fact the ruling will only impact a very

small percentage of those prosecutions.
