Today's podcast is a little different.

It's a mini episode discussing the work of Skiyaf.

Skiyaf or the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund is the official relief and development

agency of the Catholic Church in

Scotland. It was founded in 1965 by a small group of Scottish Catholics, guided by the principles

of the Second Vatican Council, Monsignor John Rooney and John McKean, an unpaid volunteer, set up

Skaiaf in a Ruthergland classroom with a budget of just £8,000. Skiath now works in countries

across Asia, Africa and Latin America and provides assistance

to vulnerable people.

Skiyaf works with partner organisations and has responded to humanitarian disasters with

emergency provisions and support.

In Scotland, Skiyaf raises awareness of the underlying causes of global poverty and injustice,

work that includes visiting schools.

I spoke with community engagement officer Jenna Fulton about the work that Skiyaf is currently doing.

Hello, Jenna. How are you?

Hi, I'm good. Thank you. How are you?

I'm very good. It's a pleasure to have you on. So we just want to talk about Ski-F. I think

when most people think Ski-F, they think of the wee box appeal. That seems to be the wee boxes

in people's house. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Yeah, so the wee box is amazing for us because that is what most people think about as soon as they think about us.
