And the story I have for you today takes place in the Mount Hermann area of Pike and San

Isabelle National Forest in Colorado.

The trails around Mount Hermann showcase spectacular views of red rocks, mountain peaks, wild

flowers, and wildlife.

Accessing these amazing sites doesn't come easy though.

You gotta be tough and dedicated.

As a cyclist is a plus two.

The terrain is rugged and sometimes not marked very well, which makes getting lost on a mountain

side easy to do.

The people who live for this kind of challenge know the area like the back of their hand, as

well as which way to point their handlebars to keep from getting seriously hurt.

The dozens of hidden bike trails that surround Mount Hermann are cherished by local cyclists

from the nearby towns of Palmer Lake and Monument, Colorado.

On a September morning in 2017, a man from one of those towns with years of cycling experience

set out for a routine biking trip he'd done hundreds of times before and was never seen

alive again.

At first his friends and family assumed he'd succumb to the mountain's dangerous terrain,

but when the sinister truth of what happened to him eventually surfaced, it became clear,

a killer was at large and able to snare one of the quickest riders roaming Mount Hermann.
