Royal Caribbean won't be visiting Lobody. It's private beach destination in Haiti for at least

another six months. That's on top of another like six months going back to April of 2025 in which

0:09.8

they didn't visit there. And if you go back even further than that, last year there was another pause

0:13.9

right during the summer and many months were missing over there. And that's really got a lot of

0:18.9

people thinking, is it time to really punt on Labadee?

0:22.6

And it's a mixed bag as to how practical it is, but I wanted to talk about the situation today.

0:28.6

Because if you're somebody who has a cruise booked in 2026 and is scheduled to visit Lobody,

0:34.4

well, obviously, you're probably thinking the same thing. A lot of other folks are thinking, like, are we actually going to go there?

0:40.0

And for other folks, they're thinking, why is Royal Caribbean even pretending they can go there?

0:45.2

I think it's a very complicated situation when it comes to Labadee.

0:48.7

And this is also from a business case, as much as it is from a guest experience standpoint.

So number one, I am surprised

0:55.4

how long this pause has gone on. Haiti has had issues for a long time. This is not new,

1:10.1

remember their assassinations and problems and all sort of things, but really the pause and visits

1:16.0

1:19.8

location. It's cut off from the mainland, there's a barbed wire fence, there are guards there,

1:24.8

and to my knowledge, other than like an occasional protest where, where somebody shows up with like a boat to protest, I don't know, something, there really hasn't been any incidents that I can recall in all my years of covering Lobbyteria, Royal Caribbean, I suppose, with Royal Caribbean blog.com.

1:39.7

I mean, I can really count on my fingers the amount of times there's even been an issue necessitating a skipped visit, let alone, you know, skipping weeks, months, or in this case, almost a year of visits in there. And so it's a very curious situation. Obviously, what's happening now is completely different, but there's a couple different factors at play. I mean, on the one hand, you have the history of Lombid, which is that Royal Caribbean's

2:01.5

had it since 1988. It's actually Real Caribbean's first private designation they had even before

2:06.0

Koko Kee, and it's been, you know, in the company for a really long time, and they have a really
