All right, today we are continuing a collection of talks that we started last week.

And the collection of talks is called Born Again.

And it was Charles Spurgeon who said those that are born once will die twice.

But those who are born twice will only die once.

And of course, he is speaking about eternal life in Jesus Christ. And that's really where we're centering our conversation as we begin this brand new year. And let me just kind of pick up where

we left off last week. Last week, we started

this conversation between Jesus and a famous Pharisee named Nicodemus. Maybe you don't know what a

Pharisee is. A Pharisee was just a Jewish teacher of the law. And these were men that committed

their lives to a life of perfection, of improvement, of growth.

And Nicodemus comes to Jesus in the night, and he's like, how do I get to heaven and how do I

get better? And Jesus completely radically transforms his paradigm. He says, Nicodemus, you can't

behave your way to heaven. You must be born again.

And we're going to pick up where we left off. This is John chapter three, starting in verse

nine. Nicodemus has got questions, and maybe you have them as well. How can this be?

Nicodemus asked. Well, you are Israel's teacher, Jesus said. And do you not understand

these things? Very truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen.
