Hi everybody, welcome to Dan Snow's History Hit. I'm Dan Snow and today we're going to be talking about the Crusades with Dan Jones, somebody with whom I am regularly mistaken.

That's extremely flattering because Dan Jones won the best narrative historians on earth, his books have sold millions of copies, his programming method in the Night's Templar, which is on history hit.tv, is one of the most successful programs we have ever made on our new digital history channel.

Bizarrely, I was there as the Syrian Civil War was breaking out, I was making a program about their castles.
