John Broseo is my guest today.

John paints fantastical scenes that are just slightly off center.

As a kid, John loved old movies,

like The Wizard of Oz Clash to the Titans,

the first version, not the remake we're talking about.

Or any number of those old horror movies where a giant iguana might wreck havoc

on an otherwise boring little town.

These are the images he loves to play with. In this episode John and I talk about those movies and the

special effects artist who created them. Even as a small child John actually knew who those

artists were which completely amaze me.

John shares why he chose to go to UC Davis to study art,

and how studying with artists like Wally Hedrick and Wayne Tevo

completely upended everything that he thought he wanted to do with his life.

We also talk about his studio practice, early shows, and how the other artist that he studied

with still influenced his thought process today.
