This episode features the DGA Special Projects Committee's recent event, The Craft of the Director, Ron Howard.

The event was the fifth in this series of conversations

with master filmmakers that feature an in-depth discussion

about the directing process, from pre-production through post.

Mr. Howard's extensive filmography includes the feature films

Splash, Parenthood,

Far and Away, The Da Vinci Code, and In the Heart of the Sea,

the documentary features Pavarotti, the Beatles eight days a week the touring years,

and Made in America, and the pilot of the series, Genius.

He is a two-time DGA award winner for outstanding directorial achievement in feature film

for 1995's Apollo 13 and 2001's A Beautiful Mind,

and was nominated for his 1985 feature Coon and his 2008 feature Frost Nixon.

Mr. Howard currently serves as the second vice president of the Guild and participates on the Eastern Directors Council and the Theatrical Creative Rights

Committee. Recently, Mr. Howard sat down with fellow director Jeremy Kagan to share his insights

on the directing process in front of a virtual audience.

The two discussed building relationships with collaborators when he knows he's got the right shot

and directing difficult scenes in movies like Kekoon.
