Hi, welcome to the Scriptures a Real podcast. This is the podcast where we jump into the scriptures

0:16.9

and look at elements of them that make them become real for us and try and draw more

0:21.5

power from them into our lives because of that. Because the scriptures are real. And they're about

0:26.5

real people and real prophets and a real God in our relationship with him. And since we're real people,

0:33.1

that's powerful. And I just want to take a moment to thank all of the prophets who have sacrificed so much,

0:40.6

both to do God's well, but also then to record God's well and those who have worked so hard

0:45.1

to make it possible for us to have God's word so that we know these things and can have that

0:50.4

power. And also to testify of those prophets representing God and including our prophet

0:56.3

today, President Nelson, who I testify is truly God's mouthpiece and a man of God and is

1:04.6

representing God to us today. This is one of our shortcast. This is just me talking a fairly brief little thing today.

1:14.3

I just have one theme that I want to make sure that we're kind of carrying and tracing

1:19.5

and working throughout the scriptures to be able to see and notice as we go along.

1:26.1

So this won't be a long one, but I think it's an important one.

1:29.3

You may have noticed in the last couple of readings that we have genealogies. We get the genealogy,

1:34.5

long genealogy in Moses chapter 5 and Moses chapter 6. We get it in Genesis, this idea of tracing

1:41.0

genealogies. And sometimes we get bored with that part, but I hope it will

1:46.2

make you stop to think about how these genealogies demonstrate that this is a family history

1:52.0

and that we will think of it in that way. This is our family history, by the way. When you're

1:57.9

reading about Noah or Enoch or Adam, those are our ancestors.

2:04.5

This is our family history, and I hope we'll fill that kinship with them and recognize the

2:09.9

family relationship and the family history. And I think we'll also think of it in terms of a different kind of a family history.

2:19.5

We have a couple of kinds of families we can talk about.
