The staff went under the table, barricaded the door, turned out the lights, and were silent in the dark.

Under the table this whole time.

Under the table for two and a half hours.

And I think the single most important thing that Republicans in Congress who helped facilitate this widespread conspiracy theory that somehow the election was stolen is to stop those lies.

That's an important next step if we are, in fact, going to have any healing.

Jake, I don't think there's any doubt at all. There's none in my mind that the president's behavior after the election was wildly different

than his behavior before. He descended into a level of madness and engaged in activity that was

just absolutely unthinkable and unforgivable.

Since the last time we talked, since the last time we convened here on the McCrack podcast, we've had a few days to really digest the coup attempt of last week. Trump's, I don't know, man, uh, Trump's mob breaking into the Capitol and trying to

overthrow the democratic process, possibly kidnap and or kill representatives.

Uh, we've now learned multiple things about this entire situation.

Despite the fact, by the way, Nick, that there

hasn't been a single press conference, a single real remark from the administration, nothing

in the way of an investigation being started. But what we have learned based on journalism

is we have learned that it could have been a whole lot worse than what it was.

We've now learned of multiple explosive devices, including napalm, multiple weapons, plans to, again, kidnap representatives, possibly kill them, people bragging that they were going to

go to the Capitol and assassinate officials. We've now learned that two Capitol police officers

have been suspended for their actions during the coup attempt. This whole thing, Nick, it reeks to

high heaven. I feel like we're not even close to the bottom of this thing.

And with every detail that comes out, it gets worse and worse and worse.
