My name is Stephanie Safarian and you're listening to episode 463 of Sustainable

Minimalists. This is a listener-supported show about intentional and

eco-friendly minimalist living. On today's show we are highlighting new research

that found that climate change is going to cost us and it's going to cost us big.

You might have heard that climate change costs the U.S. economy, hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

Globally, it's expected to cause trillions of dollars worth of damage annually by 2050.

But gigantic numbers like that make it really darn hard to see how the cost of climate

change might affect our everyday lives, our pocketbooks, yours and mine. Those numbers are just too abstract. And so a new

report commissioned by Consumer Reports might snap us to attention and that's because the report found

that if humanity does not swiftly act to limit global warming climate change will

cost a typical child born in 2024 at least $500,000 over the course of their lifetime
