On October 2nd, 2020, Gregory Rice was walking near his

home in the Arrowhead subdivision outside of Conway, South Carolina. By the next day, he had

vanished. For over a month, his disappearance remained a mystery. But when fishermen discovered a

tarp-wrapped body weighed down with a cinder block

in the Little Pee-D River, that mystery exploded into one of South Carolina's most sensational

murder trials in recent memory. At the center of it all was Megan Jackson, a body transporter

in the death care industry, the mother of Rises for children, and the woman who would soon

be accused of orchestrating this murder. The case would become known as the coroner affair

murder, a deadly mix of infidelity, betrayal, and calculated conspiracy involving a deputy

coroner and the woman he was having an affair with. A lot of you guys have sent us this one. So today on our current affairs, we'll be talking

about Megan Jackson, Christopher Dantel, and the murder of Gregory Rice, a story of deception,

forensic evidence, and a trial that revealed the darkest consequences of a relationship gone wrong.

Gregory Rice and Megan Jackson had a long and complicated relationship. Though they were never

married, they shared four children together. They lived in Horry County, South Carolina,

and were on and off for years. Their eldest daughter, Savannah, would later testify that the relationship was rocky,

marked by frequent separations, infidelity, and arguments. By 2020, Megan Jackson was working in the

death care industry as a body transporter, a job that gave her access to funeral homes and the

coroner's office. It was in that job that she began a relationship with Christopher Donnell,
