He’d never been a suspect in the case, and had kept the secret for years. He also never knew if the man had lived or died — but after turning himself in, he finally found out. Late one night in October 1993 when Trevel Coleman was 18 years old, he shot a man three times.

He'd been riding his bicycle around East Harlem. He'd pointed a gun at a man and tried to rob him.

Trevel says the man reached for the gun, and then Trevel shot him.

He rode away on his bicycle without knowing what had happened to the man.

Trevel never became a suspect for the shooting. He eventually signed a record deal and became a well-known rapper.

He got married, had kids. But he could never stop thinking about that night in 1993.
