| 0:00.0 | As the self-appointed commissioner of sports media, all of sports media, I love these stories when a guy kind of bets on himself, follows his passion. |
| 0:20.5 | And then the next thing you know, he's on Get Up and taking private jets all over the country. |
| 0:25.3 | And that is what has happened here to Josh Pate. |
| 0:28.7 | Check out his show, Josh Pate's college football show. |
| 0:31.6 | He's everywhere. |
| 0:32.4 | Congratulations to you, dude. |
| 0:33.7 | I would like people, if you don't mind, Josh, kind of tell that story because I think |
| 0:38.2 | our listeners would find it interesting, your story. Yeah, all right. So let's try and condense it as |
| 0:43.6 | much as possible. I grew up in just north of Columbus, Georgia, about an hour and a half south of Atlanta |
| 0:49.0 | in Harris County. My last name means nothing in sports media. My track outside of high school going into |
| 0:56.5 | college got me nowhere close to a profession in sports media. I was, I think this will make |
| 1:02.5 | sense to a lot of the listeners. I did not grow up broke. I certainly did not grow up wealthy. |
| 1:06.8 | I grew up closer to the latter than the former, or the former than the latter. And so I was kind of like one of those tweeners where I don't really know what I want to do, age 19. And man, I was fascinated with sports. I was immersed in sports growing up, specifically |
| 1:47.8 | college football, but I did start to realize that I had a little bit of a fascination with the |
| 1:53.0 | process of production and presentation. And I didn't really know where that came from, but I didn't |
| 1:57.8 | question it. So years go by, and I would long for a career in that, but I had no idea what the |
| 2:06.1 | entry point was. |
| 2:07.5 | And I would just, man, I would drive around in my truck and I knew I needed to get reps and |
| 2:13.1 | I didn't have a show to get reps on. |
| 2:14.7 | So I would let someone bring a show in from break on radio. |
| 2:18.9 | Then I would hit mute and I would take the segment over from them. And I would just do dry run |
| 2:23.1 | repetitions. I would talk to my steering wheel. That was my audience. And I did that. I did it so long |
