And then the next thing you know, he's on Get Up and taking private jets all over the country.

And that is what has happened here to Josh Pate.

I would like people, if you don't mind, Josh, kind of tell that story because I think

our listeners would find it interesting, your story. Yeah, all right. So let's try and condense it as

much as possible. I grew up in just north of Columbus, Georgia, about an hour and a half south of Atlanta

in Harris County. My last name means nothing in sports media. My track outside of high school going into

college got me nowhere close to a profession in sports media. I was, I think this will make

sense to a lot of the listeners. I did not grow up broke. I certainly did not grow up wealthy.

I grew up closer to the latter than the former, or the former than the latter. And so I was kind of like one of those tweeners where I don't really know what I want to do, age 19. And I'm still saying that at 23, 24. I finally got my act together a little bit, got a degree in mass comm. But I was just working manual labor. That's really what I was doing. I was working construction. I was working heating and air installation. I ended up working several years in a fabric warehouse down in Columbus. And all I would do, if you pretend this is a radio, all I would do is just have this thing to my ear. This is before AirPods. I would have it to my ear and I would just listen to sports talk radio all day. I would listen to Dan. I would listen to Mike and Mike. I would listen to Cowhurt. And man, I was fascinated with sports. I was immersed in sports growing up, specifically

college football, but I did start to realize that I had a little bit of a fascination with the

process of production and presentation. And I didn't really know where that came from, but I didn't

question it. So years go by, and I would long for a career in that, but I had no idea what the

entry point was.

And I would just, man, I would drive around in my truck and I knew I needed to get reps and

I didn't have a show to get reps on.

So I would let someone bring a show in from break on radio.

Then I would hit mute and I would take the segment over from them. And I would just do dry run

repetitions. I would talk to my steering wheel. That was my audience. And I did that. I did it so long
