What is up, everybody? Welcome to Toonish. I'm your host, Elizabeth Cott. This is the show where

everything is a thrill and nothing is too niche. It is so good to be joining you. I am recording this from Florida.

Took a little sabbatical from Los Angeles. I'll be coming back shortly. But yeah, my husband

and I have been bopping around. He had a show that he's workshopping in L.A. or I'm sorry,

that he's workshopping in Miami that's coming to L.A. And we've been enjoying the sunshine out here. And it's been,

it's been great. And I know I've been off the mic for a moment, but the only way to get started

again is to just get started again. So here we are. I'm so happy to be back. I am excited

to share with you guys what I've been working on when it's ready to be birthed. But just know,

if I'm not putting out a podcast episode, I'm probably working on something else. So that's the good news. I think what inspired me

to come back, other than the fact that I love doing this show truly, is that there have been

some personal faves that have come back into the fold lately that have really brought a thrill to my life. So first and foremost, the show

the comeback that I think many of you, I'm sure, are familiar with, but this was a show that

came out in 2005 that me and my friends were obsessed with. It was like, we own the DVDs,

we know all the lines, we're constantly quoting it in shorthand in text messages and in conversations,

and it didn't get picked up for a second season back then. So it was just like a one and done

experience that we were constantly

referencing until about a decade later when it came back in 2014, which was just like the

television gods, I felt like were smiling down on us. And it was such a joy. It was such a well-written

exploration of the show.

So like the first season was giving us how the reality TV genre was infiltrating the entertainment industry and what that meant for television.

Then the 2014 explored sort of the more prestige television shows, like the six-episode,

sort of like movie-inspired highbrow programming and how those had smaller writing rooms
