It's a great question. And an age old one that actually goes back to the founding of our country,

when George Washington had some land that he had forgotten about, he owned wide swaths of land in Virginia.

And, you know, he had let some of it just go and it was overgrown.

And there was a group of farmers like, you know, we could really use this to grow some great crap boys.

So that's what they did.

They created a farming community.

And then they were like, hey, George, can we keep this?

And so there was a law on the books that is sort of the basis for the squatters rights movement that if land has gone unused and you assume that it is uninhabited and you take care of it
