Hello again, I'm Arminolny, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International,

a daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

Former New York federal judge Michael Mewkeese is President Bush's nominee to be the next Attorney General of the United States.

He's a law and order conservative. Senate Democrats may find acceptable, but he could face opposition from the Republican right wing.

On to the point, we'll hear about his record and some of the issues his confirmation

will raise. Politics at the Department of Justice, warrantless wiretaps, the unitary executive

and social issues, including abortion. On an extended reporter's notebook, the CIA turns 60 tomorrow.
