because they were embroiled in a massive sex abuse scandal following reporting by Texas newspapers

and a big investigation by an outside consulting firm that they hired.

It was found that for decades, pastors, ministers, other employees of churches had sexually

abused children and adults, hundreds of victims, and offenders were moved around to different
