Today a message on tolerance from Chuck Swindall.

I was taught that people should be respected as individuals, but that never meant that I was obligated

to accept and approve of or participate in their beliefs or their behavior.

Tolerance meant that you still were discerning and while you could respect the person you didn't necessarily agree with lifestyle.

In public dialogue, the word tolerance has multiple meanings to some tolerance means that we readily accept even celebrate every expression of moral behavior

To others tolerance means that we express grace to anyone who shares

different values than our own. So how do we adopt a spirit of Christian charity that

truly reflects the biblical model? Today on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall describes a first century church

that wrestled with this issue.

Their story unfolds in the Book of Revelation.

locate chapter two, and I'll read for you beginning at verse 18 down through 29.

Revelation 2, 18 through 29. And to the angel of the church in Thayatira, right. The son of God, who has eyes

like a flame of fire and his feet are like burnished bronze says this.

I know your deeds and your love and faith and service and perseverance and that your deeds of late are greater than at first.

But I have this against you that you tolerate the woman Jezebel who calls herself a prophetess. And she

teaches and leads my bond servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to

idols.

I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her immorality.
