Now they're in a foreign building

the foreigners in a foreign country in their pyjamas in their underwear and it's cold as well. They're in a building which is like a

rabbit warrant a lot of little thin corridors and if you just picture what they're going through

they've lost all sense of direction. A lot of them are literally making split

second decisions which are about to decide their fate. What happened on the 23rd of June 2000 would be the biggest and most tragic

story Paul Cochran ever covered? It's the Childers Backpackers Hostel Fire, an act of arson that resulted in the deaths of 15 people from all over the world.

The victims were Backpackers who were staying at the hostel while they earned money to fund their travel dreams,

pigging fruit on some of the farms in the area.
