Lo and behold a UN climate agreement that does reference shifting away from

climate-changing fossil fuel. I'm David Brancaccio delegates at the UN Climate

Summit in Dubai are broadly welcoming a final agreement which for the first time calls on countries to transition away from fossil fuel.

Negotiations continued for 20 hours past the scheduled close of the conference.

The BBC's Justin Rowlet has some early reaction.

There have been 28 of these UN climate conferences over the last almost 30 years.

Not a single one of them has directly addressed what needs to happen to the coal, oil and

gas, the emissions of which are warming the planet.

That is why the inclusion of a direct reference to fossil fuels

really is significant, acknowledging for the first time

that they are at the heart of the challenge the world faces.

But some experts are saying this agreement is not enough to limit global temperatures to the target of 1.5 degrees Celsius that will avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

From the big jobs report from last week, jobs in child care up by 5700 people in November to just 3% below the staffing level before

pandemic but as Marketplace's Mitchell Hartman reports the recent gains might be

at risk.

Nearly 400,000 teachers and caregivers,

about a third of the total child care workforce,

lost or left their jobs when the pandemic hit.
