Summary

Way back in September, it didn't necessarily feel like we were going to end up here. The Chiefs may have enjoyed their status as the NFL's latest—and perhaps greatest—dynasty, but it was clear the Bills and Ravens would push them in the AFC. The Eagles, meanwhile, began the season 2-2, and saw their coach getting in shouting matches with fans at their own stadium. And yet, here we are, getting ready for Chiefs-Eagles in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons. How did these teams make it here? What's at stake for them (beyond the obvious, of course)? Robert Mays sat down with Nate Taylor and Brooks Kubena, The Athletic's Chiefs and Eagles beat writers, respectively, to answer those questions on this episode of The Athletic Football Show.

We've been doing some version of this show for as long as I've been doing this podcast.

One of the wonderful things about working at the

athletic is that we have beatwriters that cover almost every team in the league. They're there

1:00.5

every single day watching every movement, every up and down of a given season. And I love

1:06.6

talking to our beat writers just about how the teams playing in the Super Bowl arrived at this

moment. It's a very different story for the Eagles and the Chiefs. You know, for the Eagles,

offseason moves that they made.

1:37.7

The conversation with Nate Taylor, our Chiefs writer, which has become an annual

conversation at this point, is just a little bit different because it's a similar story for how the chiefs get here.
