In the Chicago of Mayor Laurie Lightfoot and her endorsed Cook County State's

Attorney, Kim Fox, at least 25 people were shot over the weekend, at least one

dead. Two sisters were shot on Division Street outside a bar. There was a

drive-by at a Southside church with three men shot on church steps as in an old

Chicago gangster movie. shootings continue in River North downtown and that

old standby headline, Alderman's seek answers is repurposed and trotted out. And

six were stabbed in a robbery on the L at North and Clyburn. And on, and on, and on.

Chicago's litany of the dead and dying is incomplete as I speak to you on a

rainy Sunday morning. This has been a summer that none of us have witnessed. It's

been really horrific to watch this level of violence in the downtown area

increase. So who can say how many more? We'll be born away in Chicago's River of

violence. The sometimes appears to want to cover crime now. And the paper so

interested in where I live now that they're more interested in doxing me than

covering Chicago crime. But CWB Chicago does cover crime and we're thankful. As the

gang wars rage in Chicago, as Lightfoot has no clue, as Fox continues to

place social justice warrior rather than prosecutor, a friend of mine, a retired

Chicago police homicide detective. Pretty good writer writes this quote,

a princess born, the Pope says mass, a traitor is left without a country, a politician

self-destructs, men die in a Mexican shootout, save the copy and just change the
