I think the big thing is we just want people to know that there is this great opportunity for students, faculty,

and members of the Mississippi community here at Ole Miss to study the great tradition of American

liberty and to wrestle with what it means to be free and live in a free country. And I know when I

took over as director of the center...

You know, I was under the impression that a lot of students were spending a lot of their time thinking about justice.

A lot of students were thinking about the nature of rights.

like that, but what they weren't thinking about was what it means to be free and what it means

to live in a country based in liberty. And so when I took over the Declaration Center, I just made

it sort of my singular goal to try to create these opportunities for students.
