I'm Charles Coleman Jr. sitting in for my friend Allie today, and we've got a lot to talk about.

Now we're waiting to hear from the student and activist

Mamul Khalil, who was released from immigration detention just last night on an order from a

federal judge. Kalil has himself become a symbol of Donald Trump's crackdown on immigration

and dissent. He was arrested in March and the Trump administration is trying to deport him

for his role

in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.

Khalil is expected to speak later today after being reunited with his wife, an infant son,

who was born while he was in detention.

And while we wait for that news conference, we'll talk about his case and about the Trump

administration's mass deportation

efforts more broadly, including how the increase of mass plainclosed officers making immigration

arrest is creating a new climate of fear. Plus, how Republican-run states are actively

undoing ballot measures approved by their own voters to effectively re-band abortion against the will

of the people. And a conversation about what June Teeth looked like this year, against the backdrop

of a presidency that is trying to erase black history. By the way, don't think Ali forgot about the
