One of the more spectacular phenomena in nature are the northern lights,

seen in the awe-inspiring, ever-changing patterns of light.

Let's face it, they wouldn't be nearly as exhilarating if they remained the same day after day.

Recently, I got to thinking about this in relation to prayer. What would it be like if our prayers remain the same every day? And wouldn't it feel disappointing if our experience stayed the same,

too? In science and health with key to the

scriptures, Christian science founder, Mary Baker-ready writes, the changing glow and full

effulgence of God's infinite ideas, images mark the periods of progress. Wow, so the changing glow of God's ideas is related to progress.

And we are God's spiritual creation, his ideas. As explained in Christian science, the laws of God

never change, but how we experience them is always fresh, beautiful, and new,

as long as our prayers are.

But might we at times be happy with this new glow appearing only in parts of our life,

but be resigned to the status quo and other aspects.

Isn't that like wanting part of the colors of the Northern Lights to stay the same,

while hoping the other part would show more brilliant greens?

As we value and are receptive to the changing glow of God's timeless, inspired ideas, we embrace and

move forward with a progress it promises to bring. Let's embrace every expression of a spiritual

idea today that's different than it was yesterday. In that way, we love the glow that's before us today

and can count on the glow of progress showing up tomorrow.
