Imagine you're turning 51 today.

You were born on December 21st, the shortest day of the year.

As a kid, it was kind of a bummer.

Every year people saying to you,

Yay, thanks a lot.

It makes you feel connected to a mysterious force or energy that's been there through all of time.

And you like feeling connected.

As birthdays go, this one's been a solid B-plus.

You're an rented condo and Asman, Colorado.

High in the mountains, not far from the Roaring Fork River.

You're a nature girl.

So you're in your element here and your families altogether, which is a rarity.

Your husband of 15 years, your second husband that is, and all four kids.

You're particularly happy the older girls are here because you haven't always had the best relationship with them.

When you were younger, you didn't know who you were yet.
