But now, let's get into our next paranormal case.

East Texas, December 29th, 1980.

Just after 9 o'clock, 51-year-old Betty Cash was driving her Oldsmobile Cucklass along a quiet two-lane road north of Houston, near the small town of Huffman.

Beside her sat her close friend Vicky Landrum, 57.

And in the backseat, Vicki's seven-year-old grandson, Colby.

They'd spent the earlier part of the evening together, driving out toward Cleveland, Texas, hoping to play a few rounds of bingo before heading home.

But the hall was closed for the holidays.

So they made do with some dinner and then turned back towards Dayton,

talking idly over the sound of the heater and the hum of the tires on the asphalt.

The night was still. The kind of quiet that you only get on country

roads lined with tall pine and no streetlights for miles. The only movement came from the

car's headlights sliding across the trees. Then, as they rounded a gentle curve, Fickey noticed something bright above the treetops,

a light, steady and distant, like a plane on approach to Houston Intercontinental 30-odd miles

away.

At first, that explanation fit.
