And we hear so often that America is the richest country on earth.

And you know, it is.

We have a very high standard of living and with it a somewhat stable government.

A government that is pretty good at making sure that the things we need most to survive

are a plentiful, available, and affordable for most of our citizens.

For instance, our society is very car-centric and people need to get around.

And accordingly, we ensure that gasoline is cheap and plentiful, relatively speaking.

Likewise, food is a necessity of life.

And we have some of the lowest food prices in the developed world compared to our income.

It is very, very cheap to get basic calories in America.

Even if those calories are sometimes not so healthy, at least you have access to them.
