Hello everyone and welcome to police off the cuff real crime stories.

You know, everyone's talking about the Brian Coburger plea, and many people are unhappy

with the plea that he pled guilty to four counts of murder.

But there was a reason that the defense went to the prosecution about a week before the plea and said,

we're ready to take a plea.

What are you got for us?

And clearly, Bill Thompson, the prosecutor, said, well,

we have, he's going to plead a four counts of murder with no possibility of parole. And that

was what the plea was. But we want to discuss why was the defense so afraid of going to trial.

What did the prosecution have? What was the evidence that the defense was so afraid of?

And we think that the evidence that the prosecution had was overwhelming. And that word

overwhelming has been used by many law enforcement professionals, specifically Orange County

California prosecutor Matt Murphy, who incidentally is going to be on the show tomorrow night,

he felt the evidence here was overwhelming. And he, as even voiced his opinion, and you'll hear

him talk about it tomorrow night, that he does not know why they went off the death penalty

and offered a plea whatsoever, because he was one of those pushing this to go to trial

and take this case to trial so that they could get the death penalty because if there was ever a

case where the defendant deserved the death penalty it was this case so hold on to your seats
