Andrew Frankel who is sat next to me yes as I speak now a couple of weeks ago we recorded a

podcast direct from the M4 for the cabin of Alexis we are in a car again. We're not going anywhere, we're not moving. We're in a car park at

Donington Park. You might, there's clearly a track day going on today. It's Monday morning,

there's clearly a track day going on because there are some very track dayish cars driving along behind us. So you might hear the odd sort of fruity exhaust note. You might hear a plane going overhead. It's a wet day, Donington Park in the wet. Slippery. Yeah,

down crayners. Yeah, but also this time a year. Yes. This time a year because

you know the the circuit won't have seen a huge amount of use over the winter and all that

avgas that gets dropped on it from East Midlands Airport next door.

I mean Donington and the wet is always slippery.

This time of year, it's just absolutely, you you sort of go to go out the pit lane

turn to red gate and just go straight on the gravel. I remember racing mini challenge here and it was

dry most of the weekend I think this was the second of three races I think

And it just started spitting a little bit and I was like okay, it's fine. It's just spitting it's a warmish day

Yeah The road the track is otherwise dry, and then I turned it, it's the old

hairpin at the bottom of crane, it's the right, isn't it?

Turned into there and the car just tried to spin on me.

It tried to swap ends, and I just assumed the track was still dry, but I guess when just a little bit of rain comes down,

it picks up all the muck that gets lodged into the touch surface.

Yeah, you can see, sometimes you can see this sort of, you know, emulsion on the surface of it.

It really is, it's one of those circuits where, you know, knowing a decent wet line is just really, really important.

And if you don't, just drive around the outside of every corner.

Yeah.
