Summary
It’s February 25th. This day in 1972, Democratic frontrunner Edmund Muskie of Maine was embroiled in a “scandal” that would ultimately sink his candidacy.

| 0:50.3 | to them as Canucks. This is what would come to be known as the |
| 0:54.0 | Canuck letter that gets published. And then the second thing that happens is |
| 0:57.5 | two days later on February 26th in what's come to be known as the crying |
| 1:01.8 | speech, Muske gives a speech outdoors in the New Hampshire snow where he rails against this anonymous letter, |
| 1:08.8 | also claims that the publisher of the union leader had made disparaging comments about his wife but |
| 1:14.8 | the news reports of this speech in many of them they refer to Musky as not just |
| 1:19.2 | being angry but emotional and crying which becomes a bit of a controversy and there's some interesting history to look into there. |
