In the 20 years I was an FBI agent, I was lucky to have been a part of some very high profile investigations, such as the Tylenol murders and the Unibomber.

We have covered some of those stories and will continue to cover them in Killer Sikie. But there are some cases I work that were not a life and death situation, and some of those cases proved to be the most fun to work on.

The story I'm going to tell you over the next two episodes is a long one I know and a bit crazy, but trust me it pays off. You will get to hear lots of behind the scenes details, and it is truly one of my favorite FBI stories.

In order for it all to make sense I need to put it into context first. So grab a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or even the whole bottle, and settle in to find out how I, Candice De Long, became a matter for the FBI.

I've spent five decades studying people's minds through my work as an FBI profiler and psychiatric nurse.

I've interviewed lots of murderers, including serial killers, and the question of why they did it is what I get asked time and time again.

It is difficult to get a satisfying answer without diving deep into their mindsets. So that's what we're doing, and I will give you my best analysis in this series of what made them do what they did.

Okay, guys, it is Candice De Long story time, and I think you guys.

Thank you guys. And last time we had a great story about Candice's first time undercover, and now I'm going to have her tell you a little bit about when she was assigned to an FBI drug squad and they were working with the DEA. So Candice, when did you start working on the drug squad and what does that mean?

I was about nine years into my FBI career, and the FBI was getting into the drug business prior to the mid 80s.

The only agencies federal agencies working drugs was pretty much the drug enforcement administration. However, that changed and the Chicago division of the FBI created two drug squads.

Now there were some DEA agents assigned to work with us, and there were some FBI agents assigned to work in the DEA office.

Did you like working on the drug squad?

First, when I heard I was assigned to drugs, I was not happy, but it wasn't long before I thought, oh my gosh, this is the most fun I've had in years.

Working with the DEA is if you want to run around, ticking ass and taking names as they say, that's the squad to do it.

There's always something going on, and nothing is more fun than working with DEA agents. They're cowboys. They're fun.

I don't want to say FBI agents aren't fun, but a lot of them are kind of stiff and starchy, and that is not the case with drug enforcement administration agents.

Well, I work on a show with a meth task force, and I think cowboys is a great description. They were a lot of fun. I mean, the subject matter, not so much.
