Chase Jarvis is a commercial, sports and lifestyle photographer who has recently made a big impression in the photographic community. His exciting and beautiful imagery is in demand with clients including SanDisk, Nikon, Reebok and Volvo. He is also a new author with the release of his book, The Best Camera is the One That's With You. His embracing of social networking has helped propel him and his career to a level that many aspire to. But at his heart, his sees himself as a creative artist whose tool of choice is a camera whether it's a camera phone or an advanced DSLR. Before we start, I wanted to talk to you about a project, a special project that I'm working on in conjunction with an organization

called Black Boots Inc. headed by Emilio Banuelos and Elena Carrasco. So how are you guys?

I'm doing great. Wonderful. Well, what we'll do is have Emilio sort of talk about what, you know, what the history

of this is.

But just in short, what I wanted you to want everyone out there to know is that Emilio, I,

and Alina are going to be teaching sort of a workshop slash project in which we're going

to be documenting communities in Los Angeles,

Guadalajara, and San Francisco.

And it's something that may be of interest to some of the listeners out there, particularly

who are close to those cities.

But before we get into the details, I want Amelia to discuss sort of the history of Blackboothink

and this particular project.

Black Bootsink is a collective of photographers from the Bay Area that started originally in San Francisco.

We have photographers who are journalists, fine artists, commercial photographers.

Just a mixture of people of ages, experience levels, and we get together to make projects happen.

We did a project in Mexico in 2007 where we took a group of photographers from San Francisco

and the Bay Area to work with photographers in Mexico and collaborate on a group exhibit that traveled

from Guadalajara to San Francisco.

And in 2008 we did the same thing with a brand new group.
