It's November 18th, 2008, and this is the Candid Frame.

I apologize for the long, long delay in getting another episode up.

I've been busy with a variety of different projects,

and all of which are helping to pay the bills around here.

And so it hasn't really allowed for much time to schedule interviews, conduct interviews, much less to sit in front of the computer and edit an uploaded episode.

But I finally gotten around to it.

And the show today, I hope, is going to make up for the very long delay.

Before we get on to our interview, one of the projects I've been working on is an instructional

videotape on lighting and the use of flash.

It was a personal project that I worked along with my team at Alas Media.

And we're really pleased with the results.

And right now we're just in the process of getting marketing revolved around it.

So we can get it out there and actually put the word out.

And one of the ways I'm going to be doing that is right here on the show.

Well, today's guest, though, is Rick Smollan.

And most of you will know Rick from his books.

He is the founder of the publishing entity that helped create the Day in the Life series.

And those came out, started coming out, I think, in the 80s, and they were real big

forces in what photography could be, especially in the publishing area.
