Summary

Brenda Tharp specializes in location, nature and travel photography. She has llama-trekked, sea-kayaked, flown in helicopters and hot-air balloons, cycled, and hiked to get her photographs. Those images have appeared on the pages of Adventure West, Alaska Airlines, Audubon, Discovery, Forbes, Navigator, Sierra, Sunset and Travel Holiday magazines, along with many others. Her images have also been published in books by Chronicle, Michelin, National Geographic, Sierra Club, and others.She photographed the award-winning books Muir Woods: Redwood Refuge, and Marin Headlands: Portals of Time, (GGNPA). She wrote and photographed the book Creative Nature and Outdoor Photography (Amphoto 2003). Her commercial clients include those in the educational and travel markets, along with book publishers, corporations, design and advertising agencies. 0:28.5	Today you'll be hearing the second interview that I conducted in Chicago while attending the Better Photo Summit the summer.
0:35.2	This time it's with Brenda Tharp, an amazing wildlife, landscape,
0:39.3	and travel photographer whose work has appeared in the pages of outdoor photographer, Discovery,
0:45.0	Forbes, and Sierra Magazines, among others. She also has several books to her credit, including
0:50.6	Muir Woods, Redwood Refuge, and Marin Headlands, Portals of Time.
0:56.9	But as well as being an awesome photographer, Brenda is a great example of a talented photographer who's been doing this work for years,
1:03.5	but who still maintains a passion for creating pictures.
1:07.9	Having a career as a photographer is a challenging one because you end up spending most of your time
1:12.8	maintaining a business rather than making pictures. That's why so many drop out after five, six or eight years.
1:19.6	So if you're able to last those many years or longer and still hold on to a driving passion for the work,
1:28.7	you're doing something special.
1:30.2	You're doing something right.
1:33.6	And Brenda is a great example of just that.
