Repentance is a synonym.

It is an element within the saving work of God that is so essential that the saving work

of God can actually be called repentance.

It's a Greek word that means to radically change your mind or to turn away from sin.

In English, the word is repent.

Now, repentance is an important part of an obedient Christian life,

but is it also an essential element of the gospel we're called to proclaim?

That is a good question and it may lead you to wonder

when you first heard the gospel, were you called to repent?

And any time that you've given the gospel,

have you always brought the issue of turning from sin into the presentation?

How does the gospel, as you understand it, compare with the gospel according to Jesus?

That's the title of John's current series.

So follow along as John considers those important questions.
