I'm Bill Whalen. I'm a Hoover Distinguished Policy Fellow, and I'll be the moderator today of a conversation featuring three of my colleagues whom we jokingly refer to as the Hoover Goodfellows.

That would be the historian Neil Ferguson, the economist John Cochran, the geostrategist, Lieutenant General, H.R. McMaster, and H.R. I got to begin the show by asking, what is that ugly thing growing out of the top of your head? Hey, it's the Phillies, you know, and I'll tell you, I think it's just a great story of a team that came together and peaked at the right time.

So, you know, for Americans, when you get down about like the state of our, you know, our economy, the state of our, you know, of our political situation and the vitrile all associated with partisan politics, you know,

we always make our way back and the Phillies are a good example then.

HR, your Philadelphia Eagles happen to be the only undefeated team in the NFL right now.

I want you to make a promise to me, my friend, that, A, if they go to the Super Bowl,

you will attend, and B, you will take a veteran NFL fan, Neil Ferguson, with you as your guest.

Hey, I will try to attend.

I was flying on Marine One with President Trump and Bob Kraft, you know, the owner of the New England Patriots.

And it was in the spring of 2017.

And Bob Kraft said, we take my photo.

I said, sure.

And I, you know, they pose together. And I said, okay, say, go Eagles. And then Bob Craft said, we take my photo. I said, sure. And I, you know, they pose together.

And I said, okay, say go Eagles.

And then Bob Craft said, well, you know, I think Eagles are pretty good this year.

And of course, the Eagles defeated the Patriots in the Super Bowl in February the next year.

Neil, I assume you'll be busy that Sunday.

No, I'm actually always taking interest in the mutated form of rugby that you Americans

oddly call football. And I can't think of a better person to go to the Super Bowl with an

HR. A, he can explain what's going on to me and B, he secretly shares by preference for rugby

so we can kind of look down on the whole spectrum.
