Summary
This Wednesday episode gloriously falls on the first of the month, so you can imagine Andy’s giddiness. Brendan’s mood is also lifted by the fact that he’s not calling in from a space cave and the audio should return to acceptable enough. They begin by jumping right into the news from Jay Monahan’s press conference that the Brooksy shouts are considered “harassing behavior” and will now not be tolerated. They discuss how this is even enforceable, the slippery slope, and the Tour courting this exact creature that they’re now aghast about. Then it’s on to the Tour Championship and its staggered start format. They react to some JT and Rahm comments on the format, try to remember much about East Lake, and ponder a format that Andy thinks would hit a sweet spot for the new gambling craze. Pat Reed’s return, apparently by bus tour and showing off his hibiscus refresher, is also discussed within a larger Ryder Cup roster debate as the final week before that’s finalized on the U.S. side. The Journeyman of the Week is a burly boy in the Web Tour finals who just clinched his card and has some interesting thoughts about peanut butter. Friday will bring a full Solheim Cup preview and discussion sponsored by our good friends at Zero Restriction(use promo code SGS25 for 25% off) .

| 0:00.0 | Now the shotgun's starting golf is full of mathematics, there's a lot of a lot of setup work that we have to do in order to make a tournament work, so I'm gonna demonstrate to you just exactly how we do a shotgun start here. |
| 0:13.6 | And here we go. |
| 0:17.0 | All right, all right, all right, get to men, start your engine! |
| 0:28.8 | Greetings and welcome to a Wednesday edition of the shotgun start. It is September 1st, Andy, how are we doing? |
| 0:44.8 | Brendan! Oh, I meant to say, Bruxy is great to be back. It's awesome to be back on the first. I'm enjoying Northern Michigan still. It's just delightful up here. There's not much not to love. There's a different, it's chock full of golf dudes. Who knew that the golf would be? I saw that there was an article written about the Bruxy decision by the Monahan. |
| 1:12.8 | Yeah, there's an article at TMZ about it. No, real? This is golf in the big time here, but I think we should talk about this right off the top, unless you want to talk about your performance on Sunday night. |
| 1:30.8 | No, I just want to apologize. I don't want to talk about it ever again. I didn't realize how bad it was. I still haven't listened to it except for clips that people have shared, which I hope are the worst of the worst on Twitter. It was just all around bad. |
| 1:46.8 | I realized I was just screaming into my dashboard, barreling down I-95, and I apologize. We obviously didn't get to a lot of what we wanted to, and I'm just sorry. There was probably a lot of first-time listeners, not a lot, but some, given that it was a sort of dramatic, sort of national story, how it finished. So we apologize, but maybe that's a good way to kind of blood you get you right into it, because don't expect much. |
| 2:11.8 | It's set your expectations low, but that was certainly an all-time worst for technical audio difficulties, and unfortunately it's purely an audio medium, so I apologize. |
| 2:22.8 | Yeah, you know, at that point when he came in on the pod, I was at a point where I knew there was nothing. It was a disaster. KVV had already broken out like five times. It was just... |
| 2:35.8 | It was at the point where I just said, you know, it's like 11 o'clock at night, and I'm done with this thing just has to be over. |
| 2:43.8 | It was the perfect storm to be clear. Perfect storm of you being on vacation and me like having to, I was working, covering event. That probably won't happen again. |
| 2:51.8 | So that was also why we canceled Friday, but it won't happen again. We appreciate you guys, I don't know, enduring or not enduring, just turning it off. |
| 2:59.8 | That's sort of a bombshell, that bomb episode. But anyways, you want to talk about this Berksy stuff. Monahan had his... |
| 3:06.8 | Yes. |
| 3:07.8 | I don't know. A state of the tour, the tour championship press conference, he talks to us twice a year about, I think, the players. |
| 3:13.8 | At the ultimate price. |
| 3:15.8 | He speaks at the ultimate price, at the conclusion of the ultimate price, and before the gold standard. |
| 3:23.8 | Yes, that's what he comes out and holds his press conferences. So he talked about several things. The PIP. |
| 3:30.8 | He's not going to make that public, it goes through the end of the year. The word meltwater came out of his mouth. I was laughing. |
| 3:36.8 | He said, you know, meltwater, the MVP. So he talked about various sundry items. |
| 3:43.8 | But the primary thing, first five, six, seven questions, we're all about Bryson, sort of the fan behavior. I think Kevin Van Volkenberg. |
